i Light Marina Bay 2016

The fourth edition of i Light Marina Bay featured 25 innovative and environmentally sustainable light art installations by creative talents from around the world. Among a number of spectacular showcases, Panasonic projectors supported prominent artwork in Asia's leading light art festival.

Interactive art was a highlight of the festival

Since its launch back in 2010, i Light Marina Bay has featured an extraordinary display of talent over the years. And this year was no exception. Among the innovative and environmentally sustainable light art installations by creative talents from around the world, the interactive artwork onto the exterior of ArtScience Museum stood out in the Marina Bay waterfront area.

The interactive artwork “What a Loving, and Beautiful World - ArtScience Museum” by the Japanese art collective teamLab let viewers participate in the projection. Viewers had fun manipulating the projection image on the facade of ArtScience Museum using their smartphones.

Panasonic’s latest visual solution supports a large-scale installation

To create new visual worlds, Panasonic PT-DZ21K 3-Chip DLP™ projectors were deservedly employed. The PT-DZ21K projector ensured the high brightness and high picture quality for the outdoor projection art work. And the wide range of optional lenses made it possible to project over a variety of distances. The farthest projection site was over 200 metres away from the building facade, and Panasonic optional lenses still provided proper coverage.
Furthermore, Geometry Manager Pro Software (ET-UK20) and the Auto Screen Adjustment Upgrade Kit (ET-CUK10) were used to support geometric adjustments and corrections for the multi-projector setups. These innovative tools achieved complicated adjustment in 2 days, which had taken a week in the previous event, i Light Marina Bay 2014.

A total of nine PT-DZ21K units were installed at the site relatively near to the building.

Eight PT-DZ21K units were installed over 200 metres away from the building facade.

As twilight descends, a stream of dreamy images floated to the lotus-shaped building. When viewers selected and swiped the Chinese characters on their smartphones, the image of the selected Chinese character was projected onto the facade of ArtScience Museum. A kaleidoscopic display was the best escort for a nighttime walk around the futuristic waterfront.
