Carbon Footprint Report

A product carbon footprint is important information that enables us to understand environmental impacts by a product. We use PAIA (Product Attribute to Impact Algorithm) to perform analysis of product carbon footprint.
It is a streamlined life cycle assessment tool used globally that aims to provide an efficient and cost-effective estimate of the carbon impact of a product class.

Note: Panasonic conducts a risk analysis by surveying suppliers annually to determine their OHS compliance. Panasonic does not report the data for supplier facilities because there were no suppliers with unacceptable risk.

Product Life Cycle Assessment

We carry out Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) aiming to connect to improve the environmental impact by analysis and assess the environmental impact on environment at each stage of the LCA from resource extraction, manufacturing and transport to disposal.
Utilizing LCA initiative, we are also working for obtaining environmental labels such as EcoLeaf and EPEAT*1.
Some representative models has obtained EcoLeaf as an environmental labeling system, certified by the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO).
The results of LCA of each product can be found below.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Product Transport

We have started activities to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from product logistics.
We will continue to strive to understand GHG emissions associated with product logistics and promote the reduction environmental impact.

We calculated the amount of GHG emissions generated during the transportation of products from our factory to the location of purchase in USA and Canada.

  • Period: April, 2022 to March, 2023
  • Calculation methodology: Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework
  • Fuel Emission factors: GLEC Framework version 2.0, Well-to-Wheel (WTW)
  • Scope of products: Laptop and Tablet

* Our GHG emissions calculation from product logistics received third-party verification by the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO).

We have started to assess greengushouse gas (GHG) emissions from product logistics in fiscal year 2022, and aim to reduce GHG emissions generated from transportation by 5% compared to the result by fiscal year 2030.

The results for fiscal year 2022 can be found here. The results have been verified by third-party organization.
