Performing Network Setup
Perform network settings before using Smart Projector Control.
Network settings can be performed using one of the following three methods.
- Connecting the Projector and Device by Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) via an Access Point
- Connecting the Projector and Device by Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Not via an Access Point*
- Connecting the Projector and Device by Reading a QR Code*
* This connection method may not be compatible with some projector models.
Connecting the Projector and Device by Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) via an Access Point
- Connect the projector to a wireless LAN access point.
1) Connect a LAN cable between the DIGITAL LINK/LAN terminal on the projector and the LAN terminal on the wireless LAN access point.
- It is also possible to connect the projector to the wireless LAN access point by mounting the wireless LAN – Ethernet converter to the DIGITAL LINK/LAN terminal on the projector. For details, consult your network administrator.
2) Display the on-screen menu of the projector, select [NETWORK] → [NETWORK SETUP], and enter settings.
- Set [DHCP] to OFF, and enter appropriate settings in [IP ADDRESS], [SUBNET MASK] and [DEFAULT GATEWAY] according to the wireless LAN access point to be connected to. For details, consult your network administrator.
- Regarding the details of the settings for [NETWORK SETUP], refer to the Operating Instructions for the projector used.
- To use the projector with [DHCP] turned ON, see the FAQ section (Q13).
3) Select the [NETWORK] menu → [NETWORK CONTROL], and enter settings.
- Set [WEB CONTROL], [PJLink CONTROL] and [COMMAND CONTROL] to ON.
- Regarding the details of [NETWORK CONTROL], refer to the Operating Instructions for the projector used.
4) On the home screen of the iPhone or Android device, select [SETTINGS] → [Wi-Fi], and set the [Wi-Fi] switch to ON.
5) Select the SSID of the wireless LAN access point to which the projector to be used is connected.
6) If a password input screen for the wireless LAN access point appears, enter the valid password.
- Regarding the SSID and password for the wireless LAN access point, refer to the Operating Instructions for the wireless LAN access point or ask your network administrator.
7) Connection is completed.
- The Wi-Fi antenna icon is displayed.
Connecting the Projector and Device by Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Not via an Access Point
■ Compatible projectors: PT-RQ50K, PT-RQ35K Series, PT-RQ25K Series, PT-RZ14K, PT-REQ15 Series, PT-REZ15 Series, PT-RQ7 Series,
PT-RCQ10 Series, and PT-MZ20K Series
- You can connect your projector directly to your iOS/Android device.
- When connecting the projector and device by wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), not via an access point, you need to connect the optional wireless module to your projector’s <USB> terminal.
1) Display the on-screen menu of the projector and select [NETWORK] → [WIRELESS LAN] → [ENABLE].
2) Display the on-screen menu of the projector and select [NETWORK] → [NETWORK STATUS].
- The [NETWORK STATUS] screen appears, and SSID is displayed on the [WIRELESS LAN] page after switching the display screen.
3) On the home screen of the iPhone or Android device, select [SETTINGS] → [Wi-Fi], and set the [Wi-Fi] switch to ON.
4) Select the same network with the SSID displayed on the [NETWORK STATUS] screen as shown in 2).
5) You will be prompted for a password. Input the connection key that appears in [KEY] on the [NETWORK STATUS] screen.
- The connection key can be shown or hidden by pushing the <ENTER> button on the remote control.
6) Connection is completed.
- The Wi-Fi antenna icon is displayed.
Connecting the Projector and Device by Reading a QR Code
■ Compatible projectors: PT-RQ50K*, PT-RQ35K Series, PT-RQ25K Series, PT-RZ14K, PT-REQ15 Series, PT-REZ15 Series, PT-RQ7 Series, and
PT-MZ20K Series
* This method is not available when the firmware version is lower than 3.00. It becomes available by updating the firmware version.
- Connect the projector to your iOS/Android device by reading a QR Code displayed on the projector with the device's camera.
- When connecting the projector and device by reading a QR Code, you need to connect the optional wireless module to your projector's <USB> terminal.
- Operation with the following devices has been confirmed regarding this function.
iOS: iPhone 12 / iPhone 11 / iPhone XS / iPhone XS Max / iPhone XR / iPhone X
Android: Google Pixel 7a / Google Pixel 5 / Google Pixel 3 - To use this function, camera application software that supports the reading of QR Codes is required.
1) Display the on-screen menu of the projector and select [NETWORK] → [WIRELESS LAN] → [ENABLE].
2) Display the on-screen menu of the projector and select [NETWORK] → [NETWORK STATUS].
- The [NETWORK STATUS] screen appears, and a QR Code is displayed on the [WIRELESS LAN] page after switching the display screen.
3) Activate the camera application software built into your iPhone/Android device and read the QR Code displayed in 2) on the screen of your device.
- When the QR Code is recognized and reading completes, the network name that has been read is displayed.
4) Tap the displayed network name.
- When the connection confirmation message is displayed, tap [JOIN] or [CONFIRM].
5) Connection is completed.
- The Wi-Fi antenna icon is displayed.

- It is also possible to connect the projector and device by reading a QR Code displayed in the information monitor of the control panel. For more details, please check your projector Operating Instructions.
